PRACTICES
Small practices, big difference
Short, guided exercises you can use anywhere. Start with one. Repeat it daily for a week, and notice what changes.
The 3-minute reset · 3 min
- Sit upright, feet on the floor.
- Minute 1: notice what is here now: thoughts, feelings, sensations.
- Minute 2: bring attention to the breath, in and out.
- Minute 3: widen attention to the whole body, then return to your day.
Good between meetings or before a difficult conversation.
Longer out-breath · 2 min
- Breathe in through the nose for 4.
- Breathe out slowly for 6.
- Repeat for ten rounds.
A slower exhale is a simple way many people find calming.
5-4-3-2-1 grounding · 3 min
- Name 5 things you can see.
- 4 things you can feel.
- 3 things you can hear.
- 2 things you can smell.
- 1 thing you can taste.
Useful when your mind is racing and you need to come back to the present.
The mindful transition · 1 min
- Before opening the next task, pause.
- Take three slow breaths.
- Ask: what matters most in the next hour?
- Begin, on purpose.
Helps stop the day from blurring into one long rush.
Phone-free first ten minutes · 10 min
- Leave your phone in another room overnight.
- For the first ten minutes of the day, do one thing slowly: make tea, stretch, look outside.
- Only then check messages.
A small boundary that sets the tone for the whole day.
Evening wind-down · 5 min
- Dim the lights.
- Write down three things from today, big or small, that went okay.
- Finish with five slow breaths.
Helps the mind put the day down before sleep.
