A 10-Minute Mindful Morning Routine

A 10-Minute Mindful Morning Routine | we-mindful

Many mornings start in a rush: alarm, phone, messages, news, hurry. By the time you leave the house, your mind is already racing. A mindful morning routine does not require waking at 5am or an hour of yoga. Ten minutes is enough to start the day on your own terms.

The 10-minute mindful morning routine

Minutes 0 to 1: Wake without your phone

Leave your phone outside the bedroom, or at least do not touch it for the first ten minutes. Before getting up, take three slow breaths and notice how your body feels.

Minutes 1 to 3: Water and light

Drink a glass of water. Open the curtains or step outside. Notice the light, the air, the temperature.

Minutes 3 to 6: Three minutes of breath

Sit on the edge of your bed or a chair. Rest your attention on your breathing. When your mind jumps to the day ahead, gently come back. New to this? See how to meditate for beginners.

Minutes 6 to 8: Gentle movement

Stretch your arms overhead, roll your shoulders, bend forward softly. Move slowly and notice each sensation.

Minutes 8 to 10: Set an intention

Ask yourself: how do I want to be today? Choose one word, such as patient, focused or kind, and write it down. It is a simple compass for the day.

Making it stick

  • Prepare the night before: glass by the bed, phone charging elsewhere.
  • Link it to an existing habit, like making coffee.
  • Keep it flexible. On chaotic days, do one minute. One minute still counts.
